Impact

Our packaging

La Rosée travaille jour après jour à l'éco-conception de ses packs pour réduire son impact sur l’environnement

294 tonnes de cartons ont été économisées depuis nos débuts.

Since the creation of La Rosée in 2015, we have chosen not to use overpackaging on our products in order to drastically reduce our waste. At the time, we were the only brand sold in pharmacies without secondary packaging.

We also work day by day on the eco-design of our packaging to reduce our impact on the environment. Therefore, we are increasing our use of recycled, bio-based materials and working to improve their recyclability.

The decision to incorporate recycled materials is a real challenge! Those materials are more difficult to work with and less esthetic.

Our bottles

Currently, our pump bottles are up to 100% recycled, especially from recyclable water bottles, and to go all the way with the process, we eliminate the plastic protectors that wrap around or block the packaging pumps to further reduce our waste.

We have successfully reduced the weight of our glass bottles by 6%, which will help to reduce their carbon footprint.

The glass bottles are endlessly recyclable.

Our tubes

Our tubes are vegetable and sugar cane-based.*

Originally from Brazil, sugarcane is a renewable resource with sustainable cultivation; it requires little water, no pesticides, and grows easily. As a result, it does not require a lot of cultivable area. To make the process even more sustainable, the waste from its production is transformed into fertilizer and biofuel to power neighboring cities.

Our vegetable-based plastic offers the same protection, preservation, and recyclability properties as petroleum-based plastic.

*With the exception of our two toothpastes, where the tubes are recycled from milk bottles.

Our stick formats

We made the innovative choice to use a solid stick format for our masks, eye contour, and sunscreen.

This approach helps to save water, limit preservatives, and ensure longer-lasting use.

Our cardboard boxes

The cardboard boxes of our soap and refills are made of FSC-certified recycled cardboard. This certification, provided by the WWF association, guarantees the legality of wood use, the absence of links to illegal deforestation, the sustainable management of forests, and the preservation of biodiversity.

The FSC label is the benchmark for the paper industry and sets strict requirements: only 5% of the world’s forests are FSC-certified.

Our cosmetics in bulk

In June 2023, we launched our first bulk sales experiment at the Carré Opéra pharmacy in Paris.

This project is unique because we partnered with several other brands in the sector: Mustela, Bioderma, Garancia, Klorane, A-derma, Ducray, and Eluday.

15 products from multiple brands are available for sale in a shared dispenser with a single glass bottle, including 3 products from La Rosée: the Cleansing Shower Oil, the Ultra-Soft Washing Gel, and the Remover Micellar Gel.

By joining forces with other brands, we hope to more easily attract customers towards this new sustainable consumption pattern and reduce single-use plastic packaging.

In November, we will be launching dispensers in five new French pharmacies across different regions. This initiative will enable us to gather valuable insights into aspects such as consumer preferences for this purchasing model, feedback on their experiences, and whether they return to refill their bottles, etc.

Looking for new solutions

A broader implementation of refillables in our pots, bottles, and sticks is our driving force.

Our first refillable product was launched in 2022: a nourishing lip balm. The first refillable lip care product in pharmacies.

Its refill allows you to save 65% of virgin plastic and 54% of CO2 compared to a traditional lip balm.

Autumn 2023 marks a new milestone in La Rosée's refillable program. We have launched eco-refills for our Cleansing Shower Oil and Ultra-Soft Washing Gel, which save 81% of plastic and refill the bottle twice. We innovated our Fresh Deodorant, making it the first refillable deodorant stick in France. Its refill saves 61% of plastic.
